Acres: 700
Year Conserved: 2010
About the Property: In 2010 FSM helped a family place a conservation easement on 700 acres of working forestlands. The Branch Lake project was part of a larger conservation initiative completed in partnership with the Trust for Public Land, Frenchman Bay Conservancy, and the city of Ellsworth with the goal of permanently protecting Ellsworth’s public drinking water supply. FSM was approached as a knowledgeable and established land trust with experience in crafting and holding working forest conservation easements. The Branch Lake easement provides the protections Ellsworth was seeking, as well as the flexibility for ongoing forest management desired by the landowners.
Recreational Opportunities: Visit the Frenchman Bay website or view the Trail information for opportunities in the area.
