About the Property: In 2008, FSM accepted a donated easement along the shore of the Mattawamkeag River. Surrounded by gently sloping hills, this land is primarily forested and also contains a mix of forested, shrub, and herbaceous wetlands. Just north and south of the property, along the river, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has mapped areas of significant inland waterfowl and wading bird habitat. The conservation easement facilitates sustainable timber management and will ensure that the land remains undeveloped for wildlife habitat.
