About the Property: Apple and The Conservation Fund donated a conservation easement across the 32,400-acre Reed Forest to Forest Society of Maine. This working forest conservation easement allows for continued sustainable management of the property while also conserving recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat.
Located along the Mattawamkeag River in Aroostook County, Reed Forest provides important habitat for species such as Atlantic salmon, bald eagle, northern goshawk, and Canada lynx. The easement protects bogs, wetlands, rivers, streams, and other aquatic habitat as well as its wildlife and plant communities.
Recreational Opportunities: snowmobiling, ATV access, hunting, fishing, paddling, wildlife observation
